HERvoices: Made In China -- But by Whom? We are intrigued, excited, and concerned about globalization and how it impacts each of us, however subtly or explicitly. Yet we have heard very little from some of the more instrumental people behind this phenomenon: the women making the goods to which the labels are adhered. Given the dearth of these voices accessible to the public, and in accordance with HERvoices' mission, HERvoices has set out to hear and then share with the public what women working in a factory in Shenzhen, a city in southern China, care about and want to say publicly. The completed participatory, multimedia presentation will be toured throughout the U.S. From it, we will learn to search intently not so much for the China labels but the perspectives and ideas of those real people instrumental in their production -- and those around us similarly unheard.
